Hugh Hewitt posts No Fence? No President Frist.
The new version of the Senate immigration bill does not appear to include any fencing (and spare me the talk of “virtual fences.” Israel isn’t building a “virtual fence.”)
Such a bill will label the Senate majority as unserious, no matter how persuasive the arguments on behalf of regularization of all or many of the 11 million illegal aliens presntly in the country.
It will also cripple Majority Leader Frist’s presidential ambitions. As far as I can tell, three quarters of GOP voters have no problem with regularization, but they are also demanding seriousness about the border.
I hope I’m wrong, but the reports indicate that the Senate bill is simply a charade.
I like Hugh a lot and I know as a loyal Republican he tries to abide by Reagan’s “though shalt not speak ill of Republicans” mantra, but Bill Frist aint ever gonna be president no matter what happens with this bill. He seems like a decent enough man to me but at least on camera he comes across as having zero personality and that ladies and gentlemen is electoral death in a presidential race.
If anyone wants to wager on Frist’s chances of winning the Republican nomination let alone the presidency in 08 just let me know. Its a sucker bet at any odds.
Now Mit (is it one or two T’s?) Romney that guy has a shot at being a contender.

No takers on the bet here. President Frist? Not in this lifetime. (Or any.) The current Seante “immigration” bill ought to cause those who vote for it to be brought up on charges of treason, IMO.
Giving away the store…
The RepubliCAN’T “leadership” are all “roll over puppies” asking the reconquistas to scratch their bellies.

I’ve said several times that these new immigration laws are nothing more than posturing before the upcoming elections. Why pass more legislation that won’t be enforced. There is already enough of that on the books.

No more Kotex for La Raza
Well, it’s finally come to this: Aztlan has officially declared a boycott of Kotex, Huggies, Kleenex, Cottonelle, Scott, Kimbies, Pull-ups, Depend and more.

I’ve met Bill Frist and you’re right; he has no personality to speak of. He’s nice enough as a person — but I want a President who can stand up for something and not just be a “go along” kinda guy.
There’s something about becoming Majority Leader that sucks the dynamism out of people, I think. Look at Lott, and Mitchell. Sheez.

thank god the senate bill collapsed……
there still is hope. the fact that this senate mess looks and feels like the bills that came out in the 70’s, 1986 , senator reid’s textbook bill in 1993–showing how nothing ever gets done despite countless laws and assorted BS that they pass. read it at this link–very short.

and finally the barbara jordan commission from 1990-1994 that all stressed a fence. as you know they jumped up and down but never put up the key proposal a FENCE. i have not given up hope that the House of Reps will put a fence even if they have to be shamed into it by public outrage. i truly believe if we can seal the border from san diego to brownsville we will be able to live with whatever madness gets passed on the home front. however, if as in the past, the border is only re-enforced (CODE FOR LEFT OPEN) i think we will have a slow civil breakdown. this link will be a slow natural outcome

i sent my long fence/illegals rant–i won’t bore you with it again–to several columnists, senators etc. i will tell you, for the fence advocates, don’t give up hope yet. charles krauthammer and tom friedman seem on board. i think its in the air. hugh hewitt interviewed a ten year border patrolman and he said most definitely that only a fence across the entire border can and will do the job. illegal immigration will grind to a halt. here’s the audio link from hewitt’s blog. at least read the transcript.

it is getting talked about. the washington post, in a editorial mentioned it in passing putting its cost at two billion. that’s literally a drop in the bucket for what it produces. the fines they are talking about come to 10 billion or more.
it ain’t over yet………
and since we started this discussion back in the middle of march 30,000 more have strolled or otherwise crossed the border. is this a great country or what!
