Not to be left out of the CF that is the current crisis over illegal immigration, Democrats really should also be wondering what is going on with their party as well.

The unions, which have shored up the Democrat Party for 60 years, are one of the primary victims of the massive influx of cheap illegal labor. Tens of thousands of new construction jobs in the Katrina region are being taken by non-union, illegal laborers. And these folks are understandably unwilling to unionize — since joining a union means having documentation, paying dues, not being paid under the table, participating in the income tax system, you know, the little things that make being protected by a union possible.

Government workers at all levels, another strongly Democrat constituency, are seeing their budgets squeezed by a combination of additional workload, demand for resources to be diverted away from compensation and new equipment and retirement funding, and are seeing increasingly higher workloads coupled with an increasing perception that what they do is being flushed down the proverbial toilet in an ever-expanding miasma of services rendered to people who are not invested in our system.

African-Americans, another completely reliable source of support for the Democrat party, are also being squeezed by the illegal labor crush. As I’ve stated before, the illegals “do jobs no American will do” — at $2.50 an hour. There are literally millions of jobs and business opportunities that can’t be taken advantage of because of the relative economic advantages that illegals possess in the labor market — black youth are particularly vulnerable to this competition, and it’s not right.

Educators, another stalwart support for the Democrats, are under increasing pressure as floods of illegal, non-English speaking students are forced on their schools — increasing class sizes, complicating record keeping, bringing a multitude of new problems of language diversity, under-education from previous homelands, rampant tuberculosis and other health risks, and more.

What is the Democrat party doing to serve these constituencies? Can you hear the crickets?

What are the Democrats going to do when it’s middle class, union, and minority supporters start to wonder why the hell the party is doing nothing to stem the tide, and instead look only to be trying to embarass the Republican party, and pick up the new votes of these folks, once they become amnestied into citizenship?
