I was noodling around the intraweb a couple of days ago and came across a fantastic post at Heads Bunker where Head (The blogs Author) compares the AK47, AR type, and Mosin Nagant rifles.
Having recently purchased an inexpensive wannabe AR type weapon (Kel-Tec SU16A) I found it very funny.
Unfortunately I can not figure out how to get his format to work in wordpress (Dave at Third World County warned me abou this kind of thing) So you have to click the link to realy appreciate the post.
Here is a small sample as best as I can get it to turn out:
Stuff you know if you have an AK
It works though you have never cleaned it. Ever.
You are able to hit the broad side of a barn from inside
Cheap mags are fun to buy
Your safety can be heard 300m away
Your rifle comes with a cheap nylon sling
When out of ammo, your rifle will nominally pass as a club
Your rifle’s finish is varnish and paint
Stuff you know if you have an AR
You have $9 per ounce special non-detergent synthetic teflon infused oil for cleaning
Cheap mags melt
You are able to hit the broad side of a barn from 600m
You can silently flip off the safety with your finger on the trigger
Your rifle has a 9 point stealth tactical suspension system
When out of ammo, your rifle makes a great whiffle bat
Your rifle’s finish is Teflon and high tech polymers
Stuff you know if you have a Mosin NagantIt was last cleaned in Berlin in 1945
You can hit the farm from two counties over
What’s a mag?
What’s a safety?
Your rifle has dog collars
When out of ammo, your rifle makes a supreme war club, pike, boat oar, tent pole, or firewood.
Your rifle’s finish is low grade shellac, cosmoline and Olga’s toe nails.
Of course this post earned Heads Bunker a spot on the Blogs of the Month Blog roll.
If you are any kind of gun enthusiast I think you will really enjoy it. If I had known About Heads Bunker early I would have definitely nominated him for Jack Bauer of the Blogosphere.

Great stuff! Some real chuckles…
BTW, you can do the kind of formatting he did on his blog, but you almost have to know some html to do it (unless someone has written a plugin for WP I have not yet found–and nthat’s quite likely, given the great WP development community!).
Here’s a really crude, quick slap-up example of doing it in WP–remember, I said “crude” didn’t I?

I’m not going to leave that embarrassing example up for long, and I’m too semi-swamped to go back and do it right, right now…

I missed my chance to buy AR’s cheap in the late eighties…when I got around to shopping they were well over $600. So I got a Mini-14.

[…] Well, Rick’s off to the Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Tradeshow (SHOT) for a few days, but he leaves us with an open post AND a hilarious gun comparison… I snorted my coffee reading through the linked article… So true… I think Rick’s ready for any visits by splodydope savage-murdering-rapist, etc. Muslims in his neck o’ the woods (even if that SU-16 is more of a varmint gun, cos what really counts is hitting the target. Multiple times, if necessary. Besuides, what are splodydopes but varmints anyway? ). […]
