As you all know Hugh Hewitt is a life time Cleveland Browns fan which means he was born hating the Pittsburgh Steelers with a passion. Hugh is also a loyal Republican defending the party and forwarding Republican ideals more effectively and with possibly more skill than any other pundit around. Well the time has arrived to test Hugh’s loyalties.
What will come first his hatred of the dreaded (and ever victorious) Pittsburgh Steelers or his loyalty to the Republican Party?
You see the Steelers are in the Super Bowl, at the same time the Hall of Fame Steeler wide receiver Lynne Swan is running for Governor in PA A Steeler victory virtually assures an electoral victory in November. Not to mention it couldn’t hurt in carrying Hugh’s pal Rick Santorum over the hump in what promises to be his toughest election campaign yet.
This is Hugh’s Jack Bauer Moment. . The clock is ticking and he must choose! Will he make the right decision?
Aaron was kind enough to help Hugh with some Steeler gear.

Or I prefer this one myself:

It’s only a game right Hugh? And you know the Steelers are gonna win anyway so rooting for the Steelers just this once is really a Win Win isn’t it?
Btw this isn’t the first time Hugh has taken one for the team.
A big thank you to Aaron at Aaron’s CC for his help with this post. Aaron also has this post up at his blog.

This is FUNNY! I wonder what Hugh will say. Ha!
I was a Houston Oilers fan as a small boy during the 1970’s Steeler heyday. (That is REAL TOUGH in Texas Cowboy territory) That division was the toughest of all for a decade with good teams at the Browns, Bengals, Olilers and Steelers).
The Seahawks are good and have quality players, but they are in a VERY WEAK division without top to bottom strong teams.

been reading Hugh for several years now, somehow, missed his affection for the Brownies. Knew he was a good man.

Well I asked him today on the radio Charles and he says he is sticking with the Seahawks the party be damned. (my words not his of course).
I guess Ohio boys hold a serious grudge.
At least we were on the same side in the Texas V. USC game.

[…] Unfortunately Mary Katharine has left closet steeler fan Hugh Hewitt’s blog. The good news is she now the leader of the Townhall.com group blog. Since she is in charge of the blog and Hugh contributes there does that mean she is Hugh’s boss now? […]
